Automatic blacklisting and restarting without requiring heavy work
Whenever I use YouTube, play War Thunder, or battle in Battlefield 4, my PC tends to freeze and restart without any BSOD. It mostly occurs after watching videos or ending a game. The crashes aren’t GPU-related; they happen even when I’m not using intensive apps. I upgraded my graphics card to the 3070 and power supply to the TX750M, but haven’t used the system for about eight months now. Before that, everything worked perfectly. I’ve tried fixing almost every issue, yet it keeps happening. My current specs include an i7-8700 with Corsair H80 cooler, a 3070 GPU, and a TX750M PSU. I’ve updated BIOS, replaced the PSU, reseated GPU, RAM, drivers, and run stress tests. RAM tests passed, CPU diagnostics came back normal, and thermal readings stay below 70°C most of the time. I suspect the problem might be with the motherboard, but I’m not sure. It’s also happening when I use Chrome, so it’s not just a graphics issue. Framerate stays high, but the PC keeps crashing constantly.
I recall watching a YouTube video about someone troubleshooting a comparable issue. The concern was a defective restart button on the front panel that would randomly short-circuit and cause a reset without triggering a BSOD. Try opening your case, disconnect the restart connector from the front panel pins, and observe if the problem recurs. Likely, you won’t need the button much; if it is the culprit, simply leave the connector unplugged.
It doesn't follow the restart steps. For example, pressing the restart option would trigger closing applications and make it seem like the computer just shut down.
The method mobos use for the restart switch differs, and I almost missed that detail. For instance, on mine it simply shuts off power before restoring it.
your ram might be faulty if you've already checked other options like replacing the cpu, board, and ram. Consider trying to swap the cpu again.
I tested the RAM and found two fresh sticks recently (using four sticks). The CPU diagnostics app checked it too, since I don’t have any spare 8th gen CPUs. Now I’m stuck with the CPU or the motherboard.
