Got the new ssd. The bios is not recognizing it though (reseated it several times), nor do I see it as an option to install windows on. Oddly enough it still shows the old 256g drive in the bios. What should I do here? I'm considering disconnecting the remaining hard-drive and just trying to install windows.

The availability of the 256GB drive option might point to a motherboard problem. Have you attempted to reset the CMOS battery?
