Does your motherboard include an integrated sound card? If yes, consider installing a PCI sound audio card and give it a try. You can find them for £10-£20 on eBay.

The problem has been resolved; it turned out the secondary headphones I tried were affected by the same issue as my main headset, suggesting no real improvement. Thank you for your assistance—it's greatly appreciated. Now it's time to invest in a new headset, haha.
