What I’m going to share is unusual. I don’t have any corruption (sfc/dism), no issues in Event Viewer, no disk faults. No updates applied, no thermal throttling, nothing overheating! I’m running Windows 10 20H2 Pro x64 original, no recent upgrades. I use Sledgehammer to prevent updates! Also, recently MemTest showed normal results – only four passes, cost was 45 credits, and I don’t suspect memory problems. No BSOD or related memory errors in general programs. Power settings: UL enabled, CPU minimum at 100%, idle saver turned off. A freeze means the screen briefly stops working. I don’t think it’s due to EMI. I never feel any symptoms. In my apartment: new electrical cables in walls, a new circuit breaker at the hall, I use an outlet to guard against overvoltage. This isn’t DPC latency – my highest interrupt latency is 100µs, same for DPC. That’s strange. I hear sound pops and clicks while freezing happens. After turning off BCLK spread spectrum, input lag dropped significantly! It’s wild. Chief Blur Buster mentioned it causes input lag for skeptics… Then I saw similar issues in Cities Skylines – probably from the game itself. I ignored it. I also played BF1 before and didn’t notice clicks or freezes there. Recently I started Portal 2 and now I experience frequent freezes and clicks/pops at the same time. I also noticed clicks/pops when watching YouTube videos, but rarely. Sometimes when pausing or starting a video (which is normal), it happens too. It appears in browsers on other sites, even HTML5 games. My ASUS z390-i gaming card has a large I/O shield that blocks the PCI-E slot – you need a vertical mount, okay? But it doesn’t have any EMI protection for the sound card OMEGALUL! I have no extra slots and PCI-E cards, which already cause high DPC latency. My ASUS models are terrible in many ways – bad sound cards, high DPC latency, and a poor BIOS. I read a lot about sound-cracking hacks, but so far only occasional pops before (once), no freezes. I must admit, I have a lot of random issues – computers are so frustrating… I can’t do much else but fix bugs and deal with them. It’s getting really annoying. Also, I received five new hardware pieces in a row, all broken when I got them! From 2.99.9% rated computer stores in my country. I don’t even… I have the worst coinflipp! Any suggestions what this could be? Thanks! Edit: I restarted the game and it stopped, oooh. It might be Firefox and hardware acceleration. Usually I close Firefox while gaming, but I left it open this time. The only reason I turned on hardware acceleration was because Firefox kept crashing due to lack of RAM! Even though I have 16GB, page file and disk.cache are enabled, it’s still weird – I had 7GB free RAM this time! Solution: it was Firefox hardware acceleration.)
