I'm using Windows 10 version 20H2 with a Realtek integrated audio chip on my Gigabyte Z170 HD3P.
A recent automatic OS update caused Windows Sonic to activate, maximized audio settings, and introduced a problem where sound playback stops briefly followed by a noise similar to unplugging the headphone jack.
I tried reinstalling the audio driver, but it keeps failing— the Realtek Installer asks me to uninstall the previous driver, restart the PC, and then continue. It loops indefinitely. Although an audio driver remains installed, the issue of sound cutting off persists.
What steps can I take to resolve this?

Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 10/11 64 bit free download | Device Drivers (oemdrivers.com)
I discovered several additional links, but none seemed linked to Realtek.
Visiting the manufacturer sites could be useful.
Review the Device Manager to see which drivers are installed.
Adjust accordingly.

Use Device Manager to turn off and remove the audio drivers.
Download the correct drivers yourself without using any third-party programs.
Restart and set them up again. No guided assistance will be provided.

I also visited Gigabyte's official website to get an audio driver for my motherboard, but it was the same installer with the same problem.

Visiting the manufacturer’s pages is recommended.
Use Device Manager to see which drivers are installed and adjust accordingly.
You might need to upgrade to an older version, but if it functions well and the system remains stable, it could be acceptable.
