The problem appears to be specific to certain games only, not present in other titles. Initially suspected it was tied to a recent update, but noticed similar issues in older games too. Tried various fixes like downgrading the executable, clearing modded saves, and checking system settings. Audio cutouts occurred during gameplay, especially after reaching certain levels. Despite having updated drivers and stable performance on PC, the issue persists. I plan to record a video with my phone tomorrow to document the problem further.

Both titles appear to utilize OpenAL. You noticed the audio issues in Mass Effect 1, which aligns with your memory of OpenAL causing clipping problems.

I couldn't determine whether P5R functions properly. Clacking refers to abrupt interruptions or cuts in sound, similar to old audio emulators that would drop out on low-end hardware or poor settings. It seems your issue might be related to Steam itself. You could test this by running a game without OpenAL and see if the same problem occurs.

Soft clicking noises appeared briefly, followed by a sudden stop. Consider trying a different game, one that doesn’t rely on OpenAL.

Interesting, there was no clacking noise. If it had been present it would have been quiet but the audio was okay then suddenly it cut out completely. That was the worst experience in P5R. In Deus Ex it took about a minute. It looks like older Deus Ex titles used OpenAL, though I’m not sure if newer ones do or don’t, which made things confusing. I couldn’t tell if any of the Batman Arkham games support it, but I might try one to check. My guess is the problem could be related to Steam itself. As I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the affected games in my post, the issue stayed the same (P5R actually got worse after reinstall).

Checked Dark Souls III and Control Ultimate Edition without sound issues, assuming OpenAL engine for audio. Believe any P5R-related problems stem from DAC faults or people ignoring sound concerns. Confused about next steps since frequent audio cutouts ruin the experience. Looking for solutions or resources to fix it.

You could navigate to the Steam folder of the Persona 5 game and look for files like wrap_oal.dll or openal32.dll, or a folder named OpenAL in a redistributable section. If you locate any of these, it also suggests using OpenAL. I don’t have much assistance with OpenAL issues since I’ve faced similar problems with older games myself. There are many online suggestions, but they don’t always work for everyone.

Nothing similar here. I discovered a crash pad handler exe, a save remover tool exe, cpk files, and a SteamAPI DLL. It turns out P5R relies on CRI Atom Craft and uses VC++ libraries from 2019. I’ve downloaded the versions from 2015 to 2022 and plan to test them. Fingers crossed it works.

It seems like you're feeling frustrated with both games. Deus Ex runs smoothly, but Persona 5 doesn't quite work for you. That's understandable.
