Audio functions aren't functioning properly on Ubuntu 18 and 19.
Essentially the sound from the back panel isn't working, and I'm not sure why. This problem has stayed consistent across every Ubuntu version I've tried on this computer since 2018-2019. Right now I'm using the latest version (19), so if anyone knows a solution or workaround, it would be really helpful. My motherboard is the Z370 Gaming 7, and the rest of the details are in the footer section if needed. It uses an ESS SABRE 9018 DAC, and according to Alsa, the Realtek ALC1220 chip is involved. Any assistance would mean a lot, thank you in advance!
I've checked various settings and configurations. It might be that the output is muted in Pulseaudio.
It isn't muted, and it actually detects when it's plugged in, but it remains quiet when you attempt to send data to it—only the front panel functions properly.
Based on what I understand, everything seems configured properly, but I’m not entirely confident about the current situation. My belief is that my board handles port retaking in Windows well, though any changes could affect this.
It seems unclear what you're referring to. If you meant something different, let me know!
This seems like a great fit for you! I'm excited to see if you try it out. Just let me know if you need any help along the way.
Forced a reload of the Alsamixer Crank headphone slider to 100% (mute status doesn't matter) and executed the command to persist changes. Save the configuration, then configure it to run at startup so prior settings are restored automatically.
