Hey everyone. Over the past few months I've faced problems with my Realtek High Definition Audio on both headphones and AUX. It often crackles, pops, or scratches during playback. I've tried updating drivers, resetting them, and even reinstalling the audio software, but nothing worked. I also installed LatencyMon and used it while streaming YouTube with a bass-heavy track (31-46Hz to 58Hz). My PC has a 900W peak and a 300W RMS subwoofer connected via RCA. The Realtek device is set to 16-bit, 96kHz (Studio Quality), yet the audio still issues. Screenshots from LatencyMon show the USBPort.sys driver as the most active, but I'm not sure what to do next.

Generally, removing your audio driver and graphics card drivers (along with their parts) should resolve the issue. Restart your system after doing so. Then, Windows will automatically download drivers during startup. After installation, ensure you have the newest GPU drivers installed.

Realtek observed that default drivers often perform worse than those from their official site. The settings also play a role—while a card might support high speeds like 96kHz, it doesn't always work well across all applications (such as the system). It usually just offers limited improvements, sometimes causing distortions instead of real benefits.

I've already attempted that method before, got the same outcome. Also tested 16-bit 48000 settings, no difference. Checked updating the audio driver and rolling back to an older version, but nothing changed. Didn't uninstall the audio or GPU drivers either.

Long ago this might have been due to chipset driver issues or other system drivers. Back when VIA chipsets were common, only correctly installed drivers could fix sound problems. Now inexpensive chipsets are available and modern computers process drives or graphics quickly enough that basic operations rarely disrupt audio even with imperfect drivers. Consider what @GoodBytes recommended. Are we discussing general sound issues or specific DAW or player problems?
