For some time, I’ve owned the SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC headset, and a frustrating issue has emerged. When attempting to utilize surround sound, there’s a discernible lag. This problem isn't limited to individual games—it manifests across various titles, including Rainbow 6, Minecraft, and TF2—and I’m uncertain about the root cause. Do you have any suggestions regarding this issue and potential remedies?

Based on my observations, SteelSeries employs the DTX Headphone X to simulate surround sound through a stereo connection. Similar to Dolby Headphones, which I’m accustomed to, this process introduces some delay in the audio – the extent of which varies based on your device’s drivers. My sound card handles this without issue, however, I’ve encountered USB headphones that introduce a noticeable half-second lag. A simple query to ensure proper setup: are your speaker settings configured as 2.0 or 5.1? If your configuration mirrors Dolby Headphones’ behavior, you should select 5.1. Selecting Stereo could potentially lead to issues later in the audio chain.

This problem is well-documented, and as far as I know, Steele hasn't developed a solution. Furthermore, I don’t believe it can be resolved. Processing the audio requires time; Steele needs a method to postpone the video playback in order to align them properly.

Based on my observations, the SteelSeries DTX Headphone X simulates surround sound when connected to a standard stereo system. Similar to the Dolby Headphones I’ve experienced, this process can introduce some audio delay – the extent of which varies according to your device’s drivers. My sound card handles this smoothly, but USB headphones frequently add a noticeable half-second delay. To rule out any unusual behavior, could you confirm that your audio settings are configured for 2.0 or 5.1? If your configuration mirrors the behavior of Dolby Headphones, you should set it to 5.1. A Stereo setting might be contributing to issues further down the line.
