While assembling my PC, I encountered a problem with the power cable for my boards. Most videos show them moving it from the back of the 4000d Airflow in a vertical slot on the right side. I attempted the same, but it only worked slightly. The wires curve at an awkward angle, requiring strong force to insert them, and I’m still unsure if they’re seated properly. There’s no audible "snap" sound for CPU power, which is unusual. I tried pushing the thick cable as far out as possible, but the black tape restricts its movement, forcing me to maintain this angle. I read online that you shouldn’t remove the tape, so is it safe to leave it like this? Should I recheck the connection? Pictures would be helpful.
Photos would really help clarify things. I’m facing a similar problem with my ATX_PWR cable on the RM1000x. It’s a thick cable, so pushing it through the grommets can be tricky. The connection to the motherboard works fine and the system runs, so it seems acceptable.
Mines the cable from the RM1000x too! Also, I suppose from the picture I did lie about the tape. I think I managed to force it through, but this is still as much slack as I can provide it. I could attempt to try to give it more, but heres a photo. I can get one at a different angle if needed but here is from the front. Again not even sure if it's in all the way and I cannot test yet, still progressing through this. You can see what I mean about the wires angle. For some reason that bottom section props itself up weirdly. Probably because of the angle from which its plugged in?
It seems the wires are struggling to fit due to an unusual angle. As long as the connections stay intact, it should work.
I’d consider adjusting the wires in the opposite direction of the latch and add a slightly sharper curve to avoid stress on the connector. The wires should extend roughly a quarter of an inch straight out, then curve back, and be secured to the chassis behind the motherboard tray.

You’re trying to understand the situation again, but it’s still unclear. What exactly are you asking about? The latch faces the opening, so it needs bending, and it’s the only cable that fits through the hole.
I'm not advising against bending cables or wires. Instead, I suggest keeping the bend at a safe distance from the connector to avoid stressing the pins and preventing them from coming loose.
You're not sure about your PSU setup. The slack might be due to nearby cables occupying space in the channel. Try moving more cable through or use an angled L shape before entering the vertical channel. Your MB is busier with close USB connections, but it should still work for you. This is your first build—your cable management was manageable, and everything functions as expected.
Occasionally they emit a "click" noise, other times not. My most recent two builds didn't produce a click. I double-checked everything by sight, making sure the phone camera was fully connected. Using the HX1000 with their short and stiff cables made it even trickier.
