Hi guys, I'm dealing with components between two towers: an old Sony and a not-so-old Dell. The power supply on the Sony was upgraded to an EVGA Bronze 600W supply with ATX 20+4 PINS, while the Dell MB has only 8 PIN for power. What should I do? I need a converter that works 20+4 to 8. Thanks!

not advised. Dell, HP, and similar brands often rely on OEM components that don't work well with other aftermarket parts. You might be able to locate an affordable Dell-certified power supply on Amazon or eBay that fits properly.

I need to understand the reason.
I'm looking for a better power supply for my new device, but you're recommending a cheap Dell model that I already own and will replace.

this OEM system doesn't require a superior power supply unless you're also replacing components that demand higher power.
if this applies, you should also upgrade the motherboard and possibly the case to accommodate them.
these boards aren't meant for standard retail power supplies.
any adapter you use might cause small problems such as power spikes or shorts, or even more serious issues like a fire.
