Attempting to start from a bootable SSD after flashing an image fails.
I don’t have any extra USB drives, so I considered flashing an image onto one of my three internal storage devices. I attempted to delete all partitions on the disk (even though I backed up everything), but one remained due to security settings. I searched for a disk cloning method and found the DiskPart clean approach. I executed the command to initialize the disk as a GPT and then flash the image. I also tried setting it up as an MBR and leaving it uninitialized. When I restarted into BIOS, the disk didn’t appear as bootable. I recall this method previously helped install Arch Linux, but it didn’t work this time. I’m attempting to install Linux Mint. I used blenca etcher to flash the image (only one warning about flashing to a system disk). I obtained the Mint ISO from the official site.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
A 16GB thumb drive shouldn't be expensive. It makes me wonder if your original setup wasn't in CSM (not in UEFI mode) and how the initial installer was made. I recommend reinstalling the OS, creating a new bootable USB installer, installing all necessary drivers in an elevated command, resizing the partition, and then reinstalling Linux Mint.
Have you considered running Linux Mint in a VM? It uses fewer resources.
Rufus.ie cannot flash to an internal SSD. Blenca is the sole exception.
