Attempting to start Batocera on Linux via USB is halting at the initial screen.
I received an old HP office PC and have been attempting to set it up as an emulator with Batocera.Linux. The machine boots and I can access the BIOS and boot menu without issues. When I try to boot from USB, it displays the Batocera.Linux splash screen and I’ve been waiting roughly 20 minutes without any visible updates. Should I continue waiting or is there something incorrect? System specs: CPU Core 2 Duo e8400, RAM 4GB DDR2, 32GB storage, USB 3.0 drive, GPU pending GT730 Mobo, mATX Intel DQ45CB.
I encountered the same issue. The latest Batocera versions rely on newer Nvidia drivers that don't support older GPUs. I believe using a version 5.18 (or earlier) would work, or simply running Recalbox as I normally do. It uses the appropriate drivers for older hardware.
Hi, I hope this helps. You seem to have advanced beyond my experience. I cleared the HDD, accessed the Batocera menu, selected a new disk installation, but the screen remains blank after over two hours. I'm trying to install Batocera on a WD 80GB HDD. My machine is an old Lenovo Thinkcentre with Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.0 GHz), 4GB RAM (two 1GB DDR3-1066 SODIMM modules), and a Q45/Q43 chipset. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
I encountered the same problem after one update release and fixed it by switching the BIOS booting mode from UEFI to legacy. It seems Batocera may not support UEFI booting. After making this adjustment, the system started up smoothly with the Lenovo L340 i7-9750H GTX-1050.
