I had an older Beelink that I set up with SteamOS to see how it performed, but I realized I needed more powerful components for smoother operation. I purchased the minisforum UM760, which includes an AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS. I'm performing a clean installation using the steamos recovery image. The USB boot begins, but I encounter several issues—some similar to problems from my previous setup on the Beelink. The biggest issue is an error suggesting the amdgpu initialization failed. The script keeps running until it reaches `Finished SteamOS Boot Registration`. After pausing briefly, I left it running, but it didn't progress further. Since I didn't monitor it closely during my first installation on the Beelink, I'm unsure if this is typical or just a temporary problem. Based on what I've learned, the hardware should be compatible, but I'm not certain yet.

The available hardware isn't compatible since the only supported devices right now are Steam Decks. I'd recommend choosing a community edition with broader support, such as Bazzite. Setting up SteamOS at the moment means you might encounter these limitations.

It's interesting how much they resemble each other. After switching to ChimeraOS, it felt a lot like SteamOS, especially in how it works, though it can handle more recent devices.

Did you manage to solve this? I’m trying to set up SteamOS (official) on a Minisforum UM870 Slim and I’m facing the same problem.

I tried everything, then I used control plus delete and it triggered an action I'm currently checking out.
