Attempting to set up Linux on a gaming PC featuring an RTX 5070, where the second disk is Windows.
I purchased a gaming PC with two drives recently. One is already running Windows, and I’m planning to set up Linux on the second drive. The problem is that when I attempt to launch the Linux Mint or Fedora installer, it displays a black screen and doesn’t boot. I’m struggling to get the installation process started. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I believe skipping the setup after 44 minutes isn't ideal... However, sharing the exact hardware details would be useful. Also, explaining how I built the install media and where exactly I encountered difficulties would help. My experience seems relatively minor, but I faced some problems installing Mint on both Ubuntu/Debian and Fedora, while other distributions worked smoothly.
I use rufus to create my installation media, isn't that your GPU driver causing the problem? I have one Windows drive and another for Linux Mint or Fedora. I've tried both servers, but the issue doesn't work on the server without a black screen and no backlight visible.
Consider it a secure boot concern. Disable secure boot if needed. Performance varies by distribution and key configuration.
I mean this clearly. What specific question or point are you asking about?
