Attempting to separate my power source from the mainboard
Attempting to separate my power source from the mainboard
Hello, I’m having difficulty removing the old thermal paste from my laptop. The battery is stuck inside, making it hard to pull it out safely. I’ve attached some pictures for you to understand the issue better. Could someone guide me through disconnecting the battery without causing damage? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
It should glide toward the edge of the motherboard. You might need to gently push it up and down a few times to release it. It’s unlikely you’ll need to reflap the CPU unless the laptop is quite old. Have you cleaned the heatsink and fan with compressed air or a brush?
It's been more than two years since the last update, yet it continues to struggle with heat issues. I've already adjusted its position, but progress has been limited. Should I apply a bit more effort?
@Needfuldoer mentioned that you could discharge the battery to 0% by running a benchmark with maximum screen brightness and YouTube open.
Shift gently back and forth. Loosen the end with the black cables slightly, then the end with the red cables. It might need a bit of pressure, but avoid pulling too hard.
I restored a 2003 Power Mac G4 that had been sitting unused for two decades. I also swapped out the hard drive. The MOLEX power connector on that drive was unique—different from today’s models. After a thorough effort, it came out without any issues.
I was really trembling while removing it because I was nervous about damaging it, haha. The 2000’s PCs were made differently.
I'd be happy to agree! Except for my 2004 PowerBook g4 that suddenly stopped working, that G4 Mac has had its share of challenges, but I'm confident it won't fail again.
