I haven’t even begun the overclocking process yet. Today I wrapped up my work and was really eager to start the OC, but I needed to do it right. I had to begin with the standard settings. No need for any extra tweaks. I launched Prime95 with modest FFTs, and instantly I was seeing mid-90c to high-90c speeds—single core clocking at 99c. That was shocking! I wasn’t ready for such a big drop in performance mentally. I replaced my AIO and the thermal paste looks spot-on, almost like it was applied perfectly. It feels like I could grip the motherboard with the base of the AIO. Everything is snug and tight. The fans are kicking up during Prime95 tests and it’s linked to the motherboard. I’m not sure what to do next. Could this be a bad omen?

Check the hardware info with HWinfo64 to observe real performance under full-core load. It shouldn’t overheat significantly in stock mode, though avoid extreme tools like prime95—it’s far too powerful for everyday use. I'll review it again later. Initially I thought it was 50x with a voltage around 1.3V, but I'll verify that later. The voltage appeared normal yesterday and is comparable to this reference. Here you are. The issue is about the Multicore Enhancement feature on the motherboard. It boosts performance but doesn’t adjust intelligently; it just increases voltage for stability, even if lower voltages would suffice. During the P95 stress test with AVX loading, this causes the CPU to overheat significantly. In short, your CPU and cooler are fine. Check the BIOS, turn off MCE, and perform your own OC for better clock speeds at lower temps. The AVX offset in BIOS can also help reduce heat during AVX tasks without impacting gaming performance.
I wouldn’t suggest skipping this guide. You’ve already explored many topics about 10900k overclocking, but there are still uncertainties. Some sources suggest enabling Multi-Core Performance for better stability, while others warn against it due to known issues. It’s good to double-check your CPU settings and benchmarks before proceeding.
Disable MCE completely during OC. All cores should default to boosting together if that’s correct—it should synchronize them so every core runs at the same frequency instead of just one. Core ratio equals multiplier times base clock (so 100MHz base becomes 4.9GHz with a multiplier of 49). Adjust the AVX instruction offset accordingly. If you aim for 5.3GHz, setting Core Ratio to 53 works but using AVX offset 4 will cap at 4.9GHz instead. LLC is complex; there are many details online, especially important for optimization. VCore should generally stay low—ideally under 1.3V—to help you grasp how it affects core voltage before diving deeper.
