Attempting to fix damaged pads on a detachable numpad from an ASUS keyboard
hello everyone, i'm really struggling with this project for about eight months now. i bought a lot of parts and tried to customize the keyboard by adding hot-swap connectors. during the process, i had to melt solder and remove four pads from the PCB where the switches were placed. obviously, those keys stopped working. i'm trying to fix it by connecting wires between pads to see which one makes the switch respond, but since it's a sensitive slider numberpad, i can't test it without taking it apart. i'm stuck on figuring out which rows are affected. i'm using a multimeter to check, but it doesn't help much—i'm not sure if i'm doing anything wrong or if the tool isn't suitable. i have two scenarios: one where a single key has a working pad and another with three keys affected. i'm putting the multimeter in continuity mode, connecting one lead to a working pad and trying to touch others, but i'm getting readings everywhere. i'm not sure which wire to solder or if i'm missing something. this keyboard is an asus claymore, and it feels like a big challenge. i really need someone to help me save this keyboard—this gift from my father means a lot, and i'm grateful for your support!
