It's located on the back of the IO shield, but it won't impact removing the board. Begin lifting it out of the system and pulling it away from the back, and it should come out easily.

If it's still stuck, I'd bet on the cooler being attached to the case.

You managed to get it done! I had to move the IO cover through the case to make progress. The motherboard is now in the new case. I plan to finish the remaining installation this evening.
