Hello, I'm just starting out with this and trying to overclock my Intel i5 4690k on an AsRock H97 Anniversary board. I've read that many people say it's tough or not possible, but I was experimenting in BIOS or EUFI without saving anything. There seem to be several features that help unlock more performance. I'm seeing override options and some settings I didn't enable before—like the one for AOU—that were suggested to boost speed. If you have any advice on what to tweak, your help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

You’ll likely discover many tutorials on YouTube about CPU overclocking. I haven’t tried it myself since I don’t own a K processor. From what I understand, only Z-series boards support CPU overclocking, which suggests it might not be possible in general, though I’m not sure and could be mistaken.

I own an Asrock H97 Fatality setup, overclocking was disabled in BIOS 2.40 and newer (now it's up to 2.60a), so going back to 2.30 restored them. I managed to get my 4790k running at 4.8 GHz on air. Be careful with excessive heat or voltage—only the CPU needs what it requires. Keeping a steady 1.25-1.3 should be fine; the H97 won't turbo in overclocked mode (Z97 will). It runs at constant voltage and fixed speed (currently 4.8 GHz), so I switched back to the latest BIOS (2.60a) later because my GTX 1070 was limiting performance. The extra CPU power from 4.0 to 4.4 Turbo didn't significantly help. A GTX1080ti or RTX2070+ would be better options, though—enjoy your build!
