Attempting to boost GTX Gigabyte 1080 OC with +144/250 MHz results in small improvements.
Hi, I'm attempting to overclock my new card but haven't noticed any improvement in FPS.
I ran the Heaven benchmark 4.0 and received the following results:
My stable overclocks are core clock +144mhz, memory +250mhz. Power limit +8% (maximum allowed). The benchmark showed no significant increase, only a slight boost of about 2 fps.
I didn't increase the voltage since I prefer not to push the card too high.
Also, at the start of the benchmark, the program displayed 2075mhz but GPU reported 2050mhz, then it dropped to around 2037.5 after a few seconds. The card remained stable near that value, and temperatures stayed low, peaking at 70°C. My target is around +0°C, so 83°C.
The CPU is running at 7700k with stock 4.5ghz boost frequency.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I don't believe you'll achieve a remarkable improvement with that OC. Adding an OC won't bring massive results—it's more about modest progress and it can be enjoyable. You might even get better at your memory game, which could be useful. However, just having an OC doesn't always mean a significant increase in FPS...
