I attempted to replace the CMOS battery. My system booted slowly, taking much longer than usual. The LEDs on my Asus B550 motherboard turned orange. I restarted to try accessing BIOS, but nothing happened. I didn’t notice the AORUS logo appearing as expected to start the process. When I tried to enter BIOS through Windows, the screen went black.

You cleared the CMOS to reset the system or remove stored settings.

Yes, you got it. You can access Windows but not the BIOS settings. Which graphics card are you using?

The system starts normally, but accessing BIOS and seeing the standard logo or prompt isn't possible due to a display issue.

I'm working with an AMD Vega 7 GPU and have just updated the NVIDIA drivers for the RTX 2080.

Consider using a different cable or connection. Additionally, it might be that the BIOS settings changed the GPU boot device.

previously it functioned well after updating the BIOS, but now I’m stuck on Windows RN. The GPU seems to be working just now. The orange LEDs were probably normal ones. I might have removed the battery from the motherboard instead of using the CMOS pins—could that have caused the issue?

Taking out the battery and using the connectors (pins) achieves the same result—breaks the battery from the circuit so the BIOS EPROM resets its user-defined settings. Plug the monitor into the iPU, start up, and view the BIOS screen. Enter your changes, set the display first to PCI-E (from the built-in port), then save them. Reconnect your main GPU and proceed.
