I had an old computer with a lot of software that only works on Windows 7 32-bit. I used EaseUS to clone the hard drive to an SSD. Then I brought in an old HP PC to install the SSD since my old machine was failing. But it wouldn’t boot. I turned on legacy boot and it worked somewhat, but then it shows a message about the drive and tries to fix it, yet it keeps failing to start. It says "Lunch startup repair Windows failed to start." Any advice would be appreciated.

Specs of the new and old hardware would help. If its a newer pc there is a chance the windows 7 install doesn't have drivers for the new pc and can't read the boot volume.

the older system used a dual processor but the current one is much more recent with an i5. when it starts, it appears to fail and shows a boot repair message.

Please clarify the details. Which hardware specifications are you referring to? Also, confirm whether the previous system functions properly and what upgrades are needed for a smooth transition to Windows 10.

I don’t have much information, but I’m assisting a friend over the phone. They mentioned a motherboard chip model AF82801JDO, and the software they’re using requires Windows 7.

The old PC has issues that need attention. You may want to stick with it or upgrade to a similar model with an SSD. Before moving the disk, install the new disk controller drivers and consider enabling IDE mode in the BIOS. A picture of the error could help diagnose further.
