ASUS z790 Maximus infinite boot to BIOS feature enables continuous system recovery.
Attempting to return after an extended sleep session, the USB Windows 10 Media Tool managed to set up Windows 10 on an older PC. It required converting the MBR, which blocked GPT disk creation. The tool guided through Disk Part and conversion steps, installing on an ASUS z790 Maximus Hero i7-13700KF with DDR5 32GB RAM in A2 and B2 slots. Everything proceeded smoothly until the install hit a GPT issue. After converting the M.2 drive and restarting, the installation failed to proceed to the MBR disk. I tried switching back to GPT, but it still wouldn’t let me install to that disk. When CSM was enabled, boot priority selection worked, though the process got stuck in BIOS with prompts. If CSM is disabled, the system loops to BIOS each time. I’m unsure what to do next—should I reinstall the Media Tool onto the USB drive? It seems like a fresh Windows 10 setup would be best. It would be helpful to reinstall it. Ensure the USB is clean and use FAT32 settings. Consider resetting the BIOS—it might resolve the issue. The constant switching could have caused confusion.
Sure, the BIOS reset process is straightforward. You’ll typically need to press a specific key during boot (often F2, F12, or Del) to access the reset menu and confirm the reset. Check your motherboard manual for exact steps.
Really appreciate the help! It was confusing because the issue appeared in CSM settings even though it wasn’t working. I initially thought the USB was faulty and tried reinstalling it, but couldn’t access it after redoing the Media Tool. I had to run a Diskpart Clean on the drive to make it recognized again, which allowed me to fix everything and get it up and running! Thanks once more.
It was nice that it worked, I was worried I might not have been helpful.
