I just upgraded my setup to the new LGA 1700 socket. I'm using a Z690M-Plus board with Corsair Vengance CMW32GX4M2C3200C18 RAM (a 32 GB package split into two 16 GB sticks at 3200 MHz). The memory timings are 18-22-22-42. After updating the motherboard, I tried enabling XMP but the system would always boot into Safe Mode, forcing a setup reset. I double-checked the timings, voltage, and frequency settings—everything matched perfectly. I repositioned the RAM and applied several firmware updates, but nothing worked. Eventually, switching the sticks to A2/B2 instead of A1/B1 fixed the problem, allowing XMP to function correctly and letting the memory run at its full 3200 MHz speed. I'm curious about why changing the slot positions helped and want to know more about the differences between these socket types. Any advice or information would be helpful!
