The rear IO panel features both a Bios Flashback Button and a Clear CMOS Button. My worry is about the Flashback Button. If you're not attempting a BIOS update and accidentally press it, which could happen if you know its location, will it impact the BIOS? Should I remove the BIOS or are there any adverse effects? I assume it won't cause issues since it doesn’t detect a USB stick in the update slot, but I’d like to confirm before proceeding. Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated. Thanks ahead!

Refer to page 2-20 of the manual; the bios flashback button must be held for three seconds to activate it. This should not happen by chance. E19233_ROG_STRIX_Z690-I_GAMING_WIFI_UM_V2_WEB.pdf (asus.com)

The process may take a brief moment as the system verifies the BIOS file for the update. It could pause for a few seconds before proceeding.

Appreciate the clarification. Correct—I should have downloaded the manual before posting on 2-20. Thank you for noticing this.

I've attempted to update my motherboard before, but I wasn't sure how to format the USB drive with the BIOS correctly. It only checked for the BIOS briefly and restarted on its own. It doesn't seem to erase or modify the built-in BIOS just because it couldn't find it.

I opted for the more exciting choice by installing the incorrect BIOS file (the Wi-Fi edition instead of the non-WiFi version I had). It simply continues without any effect, moving forward as if nothing occurred, and sometimes displaying an error message indicating "compatible BIOS not found."
