Was curious about the pros of fully locking my ASUS VG245 monitor and whether adjusting the refresh rate could help. Also, wondering if this might risk harming the monitor.

When checking your monitor's specifications online or in the manual, did they mention the ability to increase the refresh rate? Generally, monitors that support overclocking are promoted with this feature to boost sales. Overclocking won't harm the monitor as long as it can handle it. I own a Dell Alienware model with a 100 Hz refresh rate and a 120 Hz overclock setting, which has been running smoothly for more than a year despite being overclocked.

Yeah, even regular monitors can be overclocked. Start small and see how it goes. My 60hz BenQ works fine at 75hz. It might shorten the monitor's life, but by then you'll likely have a better one. You can adjust the OC via the control panel (Nvidia/AMD) using custom res/refresh settings. You can try this: https://www.testufo.com/. Take a photo of the screen with a slow shutter speed showing the linked site, and follow the steps.
