ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS with Wi-Fi and LANCOOL II
ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS with Wi-Fi and LANCOOL II
I've been asking a lot of questions here, but it's hard to resist. I'm considering purchasing the TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) to pair with the LANCOOL II case I already own. I've reviewed both manuals—my case has two 3.0 USB ports and one USB 3.1 Gen.2 Type C, while the LANCOOL II lists USB 3.0 ports as 20-Pin headers. The manual for my board mentions a USB 3.2 Gen.1 20-Pin connector, but it also shows USB 2.0 10-Pin connectors. Am I stuck? Can I safely connect the front USB 3.0 ports to the motherboard's USB 3.1 Gen.1 header? Just for fun, I checked the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI), which has both USB 3.2 Gen.1 and Gen.2 connectors. If I were buying a compatible board, would the USB 3.0 ports work with the motherboard's USB 3.1 Gen.1 header?
The USB 3.0 header is positioned directly beneath the lower PCIe x1 connector on the TUF board.
It's a comm port... Each time I believe I've solved everything, another issue pops up. I dislike the thought of assembling a new PC with ports that won't work.
Reviewed the UM details, confirming all USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports are located in the rear I/O section and aren't accessible from the front panel. Only one USB 3.2 Gen 1 (or the 5Gbps variant) header is present, leaving no option to adapt any ports. Given the price point, you're likely limited to the Aorus Elite WiFi instead.
The USB ports on the LANCOOL case are positioned at the ends of the cables. I suspect these connectors won’t match the ones on the Asus board you’re considering, since it’s been more than ten years since you built a PC with new parts. These types of connectors can be tricky to find on older motherboards.
Check if the Asus ROG Crosshairs VIII Hero (WI-FI) connects to your LANCOOL case. Verify compatibility of the ports with your case's specifications.
