I’m trying to troubleshoot my recent PC setup. The Asus TUF Gaming B550M-Plus is paired with a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, Corsair H115i RGB Platinum cooler, and the rest of the components are installed. When I power on for the first time, all RGB lights and fans activate, but the screen doesn’t display anything. After checking the motherboard manual, I realized the issue might be with the RAM—either it’s not seated correctly or there’s a fault in the memory. I’ve tried re-seating the RAM in different configurations, using new RAM from another PC, and even flashed the BIOS to update. The problem persists. I suspect the RAM could be faulty, possibly due to a bad slot or a defective stick. I also checked power connections, CMOS settings, and cables, but nothing changed. Updates were applied via USB, and I removed all drives, including a new NVMe M.2 card, without resolving the issue. I’m not an expert, but I think this is likely a RAM problem. If you have any further tips or solutions, I’d appreciate it. Also, the motherboard is still under warranty and within the return period. Should I consider replacing the RAM module or returning the case?
Consider starting with no drives connected and observe any differences. The DRAM indicator was active but only reached BIOS at 5% of the time, revealing a defective NVMe disk (new both the drive and board) that now functions correctly after removal.
I should mention this raised my spirits since I recently added a brand new M.2 NVMe storage to the system, which was tucked away under the GPU. I hadn't considered removing it before. Although pulling it out and disconnecting all drives didn't solve anything, I appreciate the advice—I hope it assists someone else!
It seems I was attempting to apply firmware for the B550-plus, but I actually have a B550m-plus instead.
Hi knikforuk, I intentionally re-flashed my Core 2 System using a BIOS from a comparable board with the same chipset to boost overclock potential. It could be possible for you to undo the process by inserting the USB drive with the right BIOS and attempting another flash. If it’s no longer covered by warranty and other options fail, you might need to solder out the existing BIOS chip and install a new one with working firmware. In that case, reaching out to your motherboard vendor could be an option. dylanreadel, would you confirm if your RAM functions in another system? Maybe ask a friend who has a compatible board. If it works there, they can help verify your motherboard. Please make sure your friend runs two passes of MemTest without errors; if it fails, returning the RAM might resolve the issue. Have you ever tackled this problem? I own the same board and the identical issue. I've experimented with various RAM modules, another processor, graphics card, power supply, and even disconnected storage. I've also updated the BIOS, but the screen still doesn't show an image and the DRAM indicator remains active. It seems a single bent pin on the first CPU might have caused a short circuit. After fixing the pin, the CPU worked fine, yet no display appeared. Could this damage the motherboard?
