Asus Strix B350-F Losing Power
Asus Strix B350-F Losing Power
Just assembled a new PC featuring a Strix B350F, Ryzen 1600X, Cooler Master 120 water cooler, and EVGA 1060 SSC. Ran Prime 95 for 10 minutes at 4000mhz and 1.4v without any issues, achieving a max temperature of 61°C. Increased the temperature to 4150 and Prime 95 froze instantly. I tried running it for a minute more but noticed no fan speed increase. I powered down the PC using the switch on the PSU. After resetting the BIOS, I couldn’t run Prime 95 or any Asus AI Suite 3 tests at default BIOS and CPU settings without my screen going black and all power shutting off to the keyboard and mouse. I’m unsure what to do next. Motherboard LEDs remain lit, along with the graphics card and cooler master pump LEDs.
Edit: I have the Thermaltake Toughpower 650w
Could this be the motherboard or power supply?
What kind of power supply do you have?
Also, just a note: never turn off a computer through the PSU switch or hold the power button on the case for 4 seconds—this often stops it even if it's frozen. Only proceed if it doesn't shut down, then use the power supply button.
I own the Thermaltake Toughpower 650w. I can smoothly run cinebench, yet I struggle with prime 95 or the AI suite test when power drops on HDMI output, GPU, and USB ports along with motherboard audio.
Someone experienced a comparable problem. Perhaps the power supply is the cause. You could try testing it with another one.
I reviewed the link you shared and proceeded accordingly. Removed the Aura Sync and AI Suite, and I was successful in launching Prime 95 with default configurations once more.
