Asus Sabertooth X58 concepts? Innovative designs, sleek aesthetics, and cutting-edge tech for a modern look.
I received a Sabertooth X58 from a coworker. I’m considering upgrading to a Xeon processor and ECC RAM to save costs. I’m still working and haven’t started looking yet. I’m hoping to find suggestions and affordable options from the community.
ECC RAM becomes valuable when you need it for serious servers or tasks demanding exact performance, such as particle simulations.
For the sake of humor, fixing such things would just be for fun, I think.
I recently purchased an E5640 on eBay for $14.95. Now I need to look into RAM options. I've heard Asus X58 boards support ECC settings in the BIOS, and some users say both registered and unbuffered types have been successful. Could you share any personal experiences or tips?
I placed an order for 6x4GB ECC registered RAM for $25, after checking reviews about its compatibility with Sabertooth X 58 boards. Here’s a photo of the board along with the packaging, manuals, and the driver disc. Spoiler alert!
I acknowledge the general agreement, but I’ve also reviewed personal experiences from individuals using ECC RAM on X58 boards paired with Xeons. At $25, it’s a risk I’m prepared to accept.
It seems I didn’t check that discussion properly. I put in registered/buffered ECC RAM, but it didn’t function as expected.
