Hello everyone, I'm assembling a new machine for my son with these components: Mobo Asus Rog Strix X670E-E, CPU AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64GB (2x32), case Hyte-70, PSU Corsair 850 Watt Gold, GPU yet to decide between 590 or 1080Ti Hybrid. I have a note from the MOBO package stating it was made in November 2023. Should I try upgrading or check the BIOS before starting, or should I go ahead with the build without that step? Thanks for your time.

This. The system would boot whether or not the BIOS is updated, just make sure to update the BIOS to one post-SOC issues after the system is working. If you don't enable EXPO/XMP, it won't raise the SOC voltage and there's no danger in using those BIOSes.

Discover the BIOS details of your Mobo using this guide. Learn how to verify the version installed on your motherboard.
TLDR: Review the last four digits on the board's barcode.

You’ve reviewed the Asus support page and gathered some details. The information indicates the BIOS has been confirmed for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D starting from BIOS 1303. However, the sticker on the motherboard lists the BIOS version as 0806, which seems inconsistent with the date mentioned on the box—March 2023. It looks like the site doesn’t clearly link the 1303 release to the actual manufacturing date. I’ll continue working with the current setup and monitor any further updates once the system is running. Thank you all for your assistance; it’s frustrating dealing with BIOS settings, but your help means a lot. Stay safe!

I changed the BIOS first; it feels more logical to me.

I'll remember this while I wait for the new PSU to be delivered, probably this Wednesday or Thursday. Appreciate the update. Stay safe and good luck!

I was just overly cautious to double-check I hadn’t lost the SoC voltage adjustment. At the moment I didn’t know what would happen when the TPM resets after a BIOS update, as long as Bitlocker isn’t in use.

Since I don't have a clue at all about what SOC is, that is obviously one of the things in the BIOS that I don't screw with. I know how to use the XMP function and to enable/disable the drives and stuff like that but when it comes to messing with voltages and stuff like that, I stay away from those things a far as I can be. As for Bitlocker, I don't mess with that either. Since no-one other than myself and my son will be using this machine I see no reason to mess with it either. Since I am getting older, passwords are some of the things that I don't have an easy time remembering them and since Bitlocker uses a password (I think anyway), I won't be messing with that either. The one thing that I will have to dig out of the files is the Windows Activation Key. I have a printed copy of it lying around here somewhere and since this will be a fresh build, I want to do a fresh install of Win11. Thanks for the help, Take care and good luck.
