I apologize for the unclear writing. I created a new system for a friend. We chose to add extra memory (32GB to 64GB). We purchased an additional HyperX HX432C16PB3K2/32 (listed as compatible with ASUS) for the two remaining slots on the Asus Prime Z490-A. The issue is that XMP doesn’t function when I enable the extra two drives. After a few minutes, the computer BIOS shows it boots in safe mode. I tried setting the clock speed manually at 3200MHz and used XMP and XMP II, but updating the BIOS didn’t help. It just boots in safe mode. If I don’t enable XMP, it still sets everything to 2133MHz. It frustrates me because XMP works perfectly with only two RAM slots. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!
These are two distinct RAM kits—one previously used in the system, and another HyperX memory added to increase capacity. If this is the case, the issue likely lies here. Mixing kits from different manufacturers isn’t recommended. Results vary, so it’s best to confirm the exact SKU of the existing memory before buying a matching one. What was the SKU or code for the original memory? If your PC was built with PCPP, you might still have the original parts list available.
