It should function if you upgrade your BIOS to one that includes Zen 2. Unless you're purchasing the 3800X at a comparable or cheaper price than the 3700X, it doesn't justify the cost.

Not sure if boards you buy today are updated for Zen 2, but they were not at launch (since X470 boards launched before Zen 2) so there's a chance you will.
