Asus or Gigabyte?
Asus or Gigabyte?
You're considering which motherboard to purchase for your build: the Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming or the Gigabyte Aorus B650 Pro AX. Both come with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor. The Asus model offers 64 GB DDR5 memory for $550, while the Gigabyte model provides 32 GB DDR5 memory for $604. I've already selected the Gigabyte, but I'm still weighing the pros and cons if I decide to go with the Asus—it seems more budget-friendly and has more RAM. Appreciate your feedback!

You should pick the motherboard that best fits your gaming needs and budget. The Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WiFi offers advanced features ideal for competitive gaming, while the Gigabyte Aorus B650 Pro AX provides strong performance at a more affordable price. Choose based on your priorities.
Both models look quite alike. The main distinctions are:
- The Asus board includes two PCI-E x1 ports, suitable for sound cards, SATA or USB expansion cards, and video capture devices, whereas the Gigabyte model has only one. This difference is minor unless you specifically require two PCI-E x1 slots.
- The Gigabyte supports AMD CrossFire, which allows dual AMD GPUs in your system. However, CrossFire has largely fallen out of use since 2017, as some single-slot GPUs now outperform multiple GPUs. If you still want to run two AMD GPUs, that’s fine.
- The Gigabyte board supports higher RAM overclocking speeds, reaching up to 6600MHz, though I’m not sure if that’s relevant to you.
In terms of design, both have ARGB lighting, which is enjoyable to customize.
I don’t see an issue keeping the Gigabyte model, since you already own it. A 32GB RAM package is more than sufficient for gaming, and I don’t think this will change soon. If you need 64GB of RAM, opt for the Asus board.
