Is anyone here owning an Asus Gaming D4 Z690 board? If so, do you notice excessive coil whine near the CPU? I recently played Beat Saber on Steam VR and the noise was really noticeable—so loud it came through my headphones even without music. I thought it might be the pump from my EK360, but it wasn’t. I checked with P95 and it was minimal, though the fans running made it harder to pinpoint. I tested it in a few games at 1080p and 4K, and there was no whine when Vsync was off. Once I reached higher frame rates, the whine returned strongly. It wasn’t my graphics card, but definitely coming from the board near the CPU. This has never happened before in my building experience—this kind of noise is extremely loud. I’m wondering if others have reported the same issue. I’ve gone through my 30-day return window, so it probably needs an RMA. Does ASUS accept RMA claims for coil whine? I saw a similar post on Reddit. Also, the noise becomes more pronounced above 60 FPS, especially in VR or high-refresh games.

I’m really disappointed with this board. It’s making gaming nearly impossible without headphones. I’m considering giving it back, but I can’t because it’s past the 30-day window. Are there any DDR4 options that can run the 12900k smoothly and avoid the annoying noise?

I understand various firms handle coil whine RMAs differently. It's best to send your inquiry only if it significantly impacts you.

It's loud enough to be heard clearly even with headphones. My wife can also hear it while watching TV. It's definitely causing me some annoyance. I haven't experienced this level of noise in my 12 years of building, except during high frame rates or when using VR.
