Hey there, friends. I’m here sharing this because the ROG forums keep saying I can’t access it. It’s been a tough situation after losing my old machine with an Asrock board just before the warranty expired. I decided to switch back to ASUS since they’re known for quality. I still have a working machine with a Crosshair V Formula Z that’s running smoothly. I managed to get a 3700x, a Crosshair vii Hero, and a 16 GB G SKILL Trident Z with Royal RAM. After setting everything up, I powered it on and started installing drivers and other components.
Here’s my setup: 3700x, Crosshair vii Hero (Wi-Fi), GSKILL Trident Z 16GB 3600, Corsair H150i Pro, Evga Supernova P2 1000W, MSI Gaming 6G 980 Ti, Samsung 970 Evo 500GB, WD Black 3TB, a Corsair Commander Pro for my 6 Corsair LL120 fans (connected via an NZXT internal USB hub), all inside a Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic Razer Edition case.
I’ve also attempted overclocking, but so far it hasn’t worked. After installing a few drivers, I encountered frequent lockups—LEDs would flicker and static appeared. After a restart, it functioned normally. During a Realbench test, the system completed but all four components reported errors. When I tried to restart again, it locked completely and didn’t recover.
I’ve tested resetting the CMOS button for about ten seconds, used the board’s power button, and swapped RAM sticks, but nothing changed. The BIOS is still showing Q-Code 0d, the DRAM LED is bright and steady, and it stays that way no matter what I do.
I’ve also tried removing the Corsair Commander and connecting more fans, plus tested another older graphics card, but the problem persists. I haven’t updated the BIOS yet. I’m unsure if it’s a RAM issue or something deeper. Maybe the board itself is incompatible.
I’m open to suggestions—anyone have ideas? Thanks in advance!
Begin by updating to the latest BIOS using USB flashback. Rename the BIOS file to C7H and reinstall Windows. Once done, turn off CSM and enable secure boot. In the Tools section, disable Asus automatic driver installation (you may need to recall its name). Obtain the newest Windows 10 ISO image from Google. After installation, disable automatic driver downloads via the provided link.
I'll try it out after work tonight. Wonder why CSM is turned off and automatic driver installs are disabled—curious about the reason.
CSM is an older version. Disabling it allows full secure boot support. If you find the drivers, you don't need to rely on outdated ones. It actually improves performance. Installing many drivers and then replacing them isn't practical.
