I chose to go with the 5900x instead of upgrading everything. I updated my BIOS and added more RAM. My current configuration looks like this: an Asus Crosshair Hero VI x370 running the latest BIOS (8601), a stock Ryzen 5900x processor, a Kraken X52 with 2x32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 Seasonic TX-650W power supply, multiple SSDs and HDDs in a Windows 8.1 setup (with a modified front panel for better airflow as shown here: https://imgur.com/a/HRTcJ#9aLXr6z). Before changing the CPU, my system was idling around 30°C and reaching 65°C under load. After installing the new CPU via Ryzen Master, idle temps dropped to 32-35°C, which is unusual but typical for newer Zen chips. When I ran Aida64 with a System Stability Test (stressing CPU, FPU, cache, memory), temperatures climbed to about 78°C to 82°C. I haven’t done any overclocking and have updated the BIOS, reset CMOS, refreshed chipset drivers, and all other drivers. Is this normal when using a 240m AIO? It’s still less than two years old and was running cool before the CPU swap. The thermal paste I’m using is a high-quality thermal compound. After noticing the overheating, I disassembled the PC, cleaned fans, GPU, radiator, and reapplied the paste to ensure everything was in order. Are you concerned about this trend, or is it within expected limits? I’ve attached a couple of reference images for your review.

The 5900X is the hottest Zen 3 CPU, while a 240mm AIO offers limited cooling, so performance remains acceptable. The 5800X3D is priced similarly to the 5900X yet likely less expensive.

The 5800X3D was unavailable and priced 30 euros higher on amazon.de, still holding that price. I also work frequently with full audio production and video editing. I recognized it as a strong model but it was quite unexpected given its typical performance around the 60th percentile. The temperature readings fluctuated noticeably. Now I’ve adjusted the x52 in CAM to 35 while using multiple browser tabs and the wallpaper engine active. I’m not sure if changing the powerplan would help—I've tried Ryzen balance and the standard balanced settings but didn’t see any improvement. It looks like Ryzen Master is the only one maintaining accurate temperatures, similar to when Zen1 was released, with all readings shifted about 10 degrees lower.

It's curious that both HWMonitor and HWInfo64 display identical temperatures for Ryzen Master on your system. Are you running the newest BIOS? Have you updated the AMD chipset drivers? It could be an older model like the X370.

Yeah, as mentioned in the initial post it's all the latest available. It could be a x370 thing, since this update was IMO really unexpected but awesome!

I upgraded from a 1600x over 3600 to 5900X. I wouldn’t have purchased the 5900X without winning the AIO on GamingTribe. My next upgrade will be a Gen4 NVMe in a few days and a GPU in a few months.

Actually, at full stock, no PBO, 143w limit, I can run with no fans on my cooler and stay at 70c while running OCCT. Its only once you start using PBO, Boost override, and CO that she starts to get warm. They can do 240w PPT with a PBO tune..

No, it wasn't necessary. The system already had PBO enabled by default.

Yes, Auto was turned off. I managed to execute a brief test at up to 185w PPT with a boost up to 5000MHz using semi-passive mode. With my 5900X I switched back to AGESA 1203 so I could achieve the complete 1.5v output. Once the 1203 voltage was applied, the 5900X's boost was capped at 1.425, which significantly restricts the overall gain.

With my 5900X I switched back to AGESA 1203 so I could achieve the complete 1.5v output. Once the 1203 voltage was applied, the 5900X's boost was capped at 1.425, which significantly restricts the overall gain.
