I see absolutely no reason why it would not work. Though I would look into getting some airflow over the vrms. Something like a top flow air cooler would work. However if you already have a case with good enough airflow over the components that should be fine.
I get that for tasks needing full CPU usage, performance drops significantly. In gaming, the load is much lower. Are you noticing any problems with the VRM?
You could handle it yourself. Avoid pushing too hard, skip the PBO and CO, and it could work fine without any adjustments.
It all comes down to how much power you consume. My 5900X runs around 100W during gaming, which is quite high for the board—possibly already near its maximum capacity. You might need to verify your cooling system's limits.
