I own an ASUS ROG STRIX AM4 B450-F motherboard that claims compatibility with up to 3200MHz RAM. I have two 8GB modules at 3200MHz each. Overclocking it should boost its performance beyond the standard speed. The processor in use is a Ryzen 5 3600X.

You'll see if the overclock succeeds or causes issues—whether it leads to slower performance or a crash. A 3200 MHz is a typical setting for a B450 board with a third-gen CPU, which isn't demanding.

The focus of your concern is whether running an overclock above 3200MHz on a motherboard that supports up to that speed will yield better performance or just maintain the original 3200MHz results.

Generally, you won't exceed the motherboard's supported speed, so you won't gain extra performance.

If your boards memory controller accepts the change, you can push it even higher to whatever it deems acceptable. I’ve tested 3600mhz on B450 (3200mhz controller) with a R7 1700 (2666mhz controller)—it’s mostly about adjusting the settings and a bit of luck with the hardware.
