Hi there, I understand your situation clearly. After setting up your new ASUS axe11000 router, you're still experiencing internet issues and a PPPoE authentication error. You're currently using Vodafone broadband in the UK with gigabit FTTP, and everything seems to work fine on your Vodafone router. The problem arises when you connect the ASUS router directly or as an access point. I'm here to help figure out what might be causing this inconsistency. Could you share more details about the router's behavior in different modes?

It seems you're asking if the Vodaonfe box functions without it and what that implies about the Vodafone box. When not using the Vodaonfe box, it appears the Vodafone box is responsible for connecting to your ISP to provide internet access. You can manage routing with your own router, though a modem will still be needed to link to the internet.

I thought the same thing, but I connected an older ASUS router and it worked without the Vodafone device. From what I know, this setup doesn’t require a modem like the old broadband on copper networks. Your assessment is accurate—without the Vodafone router, the new ASUS router won’t function. It’s really confusing me.

No way to retrieve the old router's credentials directly.

It seems like you're confirming something in simple text form. Just to clarify, are you checking for consistency or accuracy in this message?

It seems unclear. The new router might need specific PPPoE configuration, or Vodafone could require activating a device or clearing its cache. Since you haven’t used Vodafone before, the process may differ.

It seems it would require a more detailed configuration. The system has numerous options, but the automatic setup isn’t working well, while the advanced mode has many settings that I’m unfamiliar with and prefer to avoid because I don’t understand their purpose.

Visit the older settings section to check the configurations, or reach out to the ISP to confirm the details. They may also list information on their website.
