I was using an offline account on Windows 8.1. To install apps you had to set up an online account, which I did. Now when I start the PC, I’m forced to enter my online password. Can anyone suggest a way to revert this so no password is needed, especially since it’s a family computer shared among everyone?

Navigate to the Modern PC Settings by selecting the right side Charms bar, then click Change PC Settings. Go to Accounts and locate your account there. Underneath your username, you’ll see a Disconnect button.
