Hello, I purchased an SSD to replace the struggling HDD in your mother's 5-year-old laptop. I need to install Windows 10 on this SSD but the Windows 8 product code is missing. I can't install Windows 8 first before upgrading to Windows 10 and activating it. My mother upgraded her W8 laptop to Windows 10 at some point without realizing it, and it's already activated with the original Windows 10 on the HDD. If I run a tool to find the currently active code, can I use that to install Windows 10 directly? Otherwise, what should I do? Thank you for your help.

Clone your operating system from your old hard drive to the new solid-state drive using Macrium Reflect. Alternatively, connect your Windows activation code to your Microsoft account, reinstall Windows 10 on the new SSD, and sign in with the same account.

Thanks, I understand the second choice. No prior experience with cloning OS.
