Hey everyone, I’m just going straight to the point. My sister has a learning challenge and doesn’t grasp much new stuff. But she loves computers and tech in general. For Christmas, my parents and I spent around £700 on her a new computer. She enjoys playing Minecraft and Lego games, and she’s also into online games—though I’m curious about where the adware comes from, lol! My main issue is that no matter what we tell her or do, she keeps clicking things. She can understand some English, especially tech-related words, so if an image showed an iPad, she’d likely tap it. She often clicks on ads and keeps downloading unwanted files. We’ve been using Avast, but this has happened four times in a week already—each time I had to manually remove a virus. What software should we install for her? To stop her from clicking everything and to keep her safe from viruses? It’s really frustrating. Thanks all!

To prevent further additions, disable the add function. For other matters, I'm uncertain.

Start by disabling adblock. Then attempt to install a security app that filters typical ad domains. Adjust your settings so downloads lacking certificates aren't downloaded at all.

They have adblock enabled, but her browser uses IE and Chrome. Are there any third-party ad blockers you're aware of?

I would examine a child account on Windows, or a comparable application. One that restricts access to specific programs and websites. This ensures she uses an adblock-friendly tool, allowing you to monitor her browsing activity.

This security method focuses on controlling which applications run by using whitelisting. I’d suggest setting up a child account and adding a whitelist filter for her internet use. Installing a black list would be beneficial too. Combine this with a basic firewall and antivirus protection. After installing necessary programs, you can restore the system quickly—about 15 minutes—by creating separate partitions for boot and personal data. Move important files like documents, music, and other folders to these partitions to keep them safe.
