you need to update the zram settings on your gnome spin of Nobara. currently it's using lz4, but you want to switch it to zstd permanently after a reboot. since your laptop has a fixed 16gb ram and no more space can be added, you should adjust the zram configuration file or use system settings to change the algorithm. check the relevant files or settings for your distribution to make this change permanent.

The outcome varies based on your purpose for using zram. If acting as a swap, there are several methods to make lasting changes: refer to the Arch Wiki page on usage as swap. Keep in mind that because these instructions apply to arch packages, you'll need to install the zram-generator from GitHub for the second approach, which I find the most suitable. You could also consider using zramd as an alternative.

The configuration was initialized as a swap by default. I managed to adjust the size from 8GB to 10GB, and after that change, the performance improved significantly in Pop. The final RAM allocation reached 16GB.
