I recently purchased an MSI B550 Tomahawk to pair with my new Ryzen 5 5600x for an upgrade. After assembling everything, the system refused to boot. I double-checked all connections and flashed the BIOS, but the issue persisted. It appears the CPU might be faulty, possibly due to a dead socket on the motherboard. I’ve attached a video to clarify the problem. Your support would mean a lot—I've spent over 15 hours troubleshooting and am feeling really frustrated. Thanks in advance!
When purchasing a board, you must flash the BIOS, and occasionally you need to update it across several BIOS versions to ensure proper functionality. You mentioned flashing it once, but it might not be the correct BIOS version. Confirm you have the precise motherboard model, as many manufacturers release numerous variations. Consider acquiring a 3600x, 3700x, or an original 3000 CPU to access the BIOS. Update it via the manufacturer’s interface (which is more stable), then after updating, install the new CPU and test if it boots into the BIOS within a few minutes. If it doesn’t, you may need to return the board.
I've changed the memory several times, do you think your Crucial Ballistix 2x8 3200mhz might not fit with the motherboard or CPU? Both units function properly after some troubleshooting. I updated to the latest version, and the first one that supports the new 5000 series worked. I'm planning to test a few more, and if not, I might look for an older CPU from a friend. Thanks for the advice!
