I'm considering purchasing a Maximus XIII Hero motherboard and discovered the G.Skill Trident Z Royal is a good fit. After reviewing the compatibility list, I noticed only 3200 MHz G.Skill Royal models are available at a reasonable price. My concern is whether this frequency works with my system—an i9 10900K and an ASUS Strix 3090 OC. I also saw a 3600 MHz version with specific timing, but the part number doesn't match the ASUS site listing. Would using an XMP profile with the right timing be possible without the correct part number? Also, I plan to use this PC mainly for gaming.

This kit looks great. It pairs well with higher frequencies, though 3200mhz is solid. I think we can push it to around 3600mhz with the timing you set, possibly even higher. Yes, 16-16-16-36 or CL14 at 3200mhz are also quite fast. Since it only supports dual channels with four sticks, using two sticks should ease memory load.

I own a set of B+W 16GTZKW's with the 3200 C14 kit. They seem fine. I’m not sure what they’re capable of alone, but they can handle 3800 14-14-14 with roughly 1.525v in a mixed configuration. I’d expect the Royals to perform similarly with 1.5v at 14-15-15.
