Hey! I just got a defective X470 as an extra component (free) when I purchased a used setup for budget building. It was included as a bonus since the original owner mentioned inconsistent booting and occasional resets of the CMOS. At first, I thought about diagnosing it myself. The original model seemed to be running a 1600 MHz processor, but when I bought it, it didn’t come with a CPU. The system specs I’m attempting to boot are: Ryzen 3 3200G, DDR4 2x8, GSKILL RIPJAWS 3200MHz, GTX 960, and an EVGA 750W PSU. The diagnostic lights show a 1-second CPU indicator followed by about 10 seconds for the DRAM. I’ve reset the CMOS by removing the battery, tried booting with just the CPU and motherboard, and even swapped in known working RAM sticks. One stick in each of the first and fourth slots worked, but I still can’t get it to recognize the BIOS. My guess is the BIOS might be outdated—since the board was bought in 2019, it could be incompatible with newer chips. I’m wondering if there’s anything else I missed before considering a full upgrade to older models just to avoid buying newer ones.
