It’s not possible to pin folders directly to the Start menu because the Start menu doesn’t support shortcuts for files. You can pin folders to your desktop or a specific folder, but not to the Start button itself. If you want quick access, consider creating a shortcut on your desktop or using the Start menu’s search function.

Save them for fast access. This way, pressing windows E will open them up.

Clicking a folder usually reveals a "pin to start" choice. You may need to scroll through the "file explorer" in the start menu to find it.

It's really confusing. Just get the rocket dock, and Windows 10 works fine for the start menu. The customization isn't what it looks like. Adding programs to the left side isn't working—dragging them doesn't help and pinning them isn't effective.
