Assist with boosting GTX 980TI Gaming 6G performance
I have never overclocked before and am using MSI afterburner. I found these settings on Guru 3D: Temp Target 85 Degrees C, CPU clock +100 MHz (from default 1178 MHz), Mem clock +400 MHz, Voltage + 87Mv, FAN RPM 65%, and decided to apply them. I played Tomb Raider and the game ran well until a few hours later when the screen went black and I had to shut down my computer. Could this be because the overclock settings are too high? If so, what should I lower? Also, will these settings stay active if I turn off afterburner?
I understand it's not the solutions you're seeking, but it's worth trying to overclock on your own. Each GPU or CPU behaves uniquely, so settings that suit one person or another may not apply to you. If you stick with the presets provided, you won't grasp what's causing issues because you don't see how adjustments impact performance.
If you're not interested in spending time mastering it, consider reducing both clock speeds by 10 and 40hz gradually until stability improves, then proceed step by step.
If you're willing to invest the effort, these forums can be a helpful starting point.
